Club History

Our History

The club’s primary goal was simple: to provide local residents with the opportunity to get involved in the sport of volleyball, fostering both community engagement and athletic development. From the beginning, GCVC was determined to create a welcoming space for players of all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes.

Founding Achievements

In its first year of operation, GCVC achieved remarkable success, quickly establishing itself as a strong presence in Queensland volleyball. The club launched a social training program, giving people of all skill levels a chance to enjoy volleyball in a relaxed and friendly setting. Additionally, GCVC entered four teams into the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), an elite competition run by Volleyball Queensland.

The inaugural PVL season was nothing short of triumphant for the club:

• Two junior teams won the Queensland State Championships.
• The women’s team earned a silver medal in the PVL.
• The women’s team also competed in the Grand Prix Volleyball Tournament, a prestigious event hosted by Volleyball Queensland, showcasing the club's growing reputation and competitive edge.

A Strong Foundation for Growth

The dedication and hard work of Jaclyne, Ashley, and Peter laid the foundation for GCVC’s success. Their vision created a community where volleyball could thrive, not just as a sport, but as a platform for building relationships, developing talent, and engaging with the local Gold Coast community.

Thanks to their leadership, GCVC quickly became a leading force in both indoor and beach volleyball on the Gold Coast, creating pathways for athletes of all skill levels to achieve their goals—whether that’s social play, skill development, or competing at the highest levels.

Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced player looking to improve, GCVC continues to offer a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone.
